The highly secretive Bilderberg conferences
are arguably the most powerful political and economic gatherings on earth.
The world's press are never informed that the conference is happening until
the last black Mercedes leaves. If the press do find out it is happening
they are kept away by secret police and security guards.

Goldmine Sachs
Daily Mail
Wednesday December 13th 2006
By Lucy Ballinger - l.ballinger{at}dailymail.co.uk
Bank staff to get £320,000 Christmas bonuses - City payouts total £8.6bn in biggest pay bonanza ever seen in London.
STAFF at investment bank Goldman Sachs are expected to receive Christmas bonuses averaging £320,000 each.
The news came as it emerged that City workers will be paid bonuses totalling almost £9bil-lion this year.
Soaring stock markets and com-pany takeovers have helped fuel expectations of record payments, with the biggest players likely to receive tens of millions.
Goldman Sachs, the world's largest investment bank, said its employees would be awarded a total of £8.4billion in bonuses this year -40 per cent up on 2005.
It comes after annual profits for the bank, nicknamed Golden Sacks, soared 70 per cent to a record £4.9billion.
The bank has set-aside a record amount for its employees across the world, averaging £320,000 per mem-ber of staff.
It will be paid in bonuses and other benefits to the 26,467 employees, including around 5,000 based in London.
However, the rest of the workforce is not so lucky. While the average salary for a man working full-time in the City is nearly £90,000, everybody else is on £25,000.
The average salary, excluding bonuses, is just 3.3 per cent higher than last year - below inflation, despite above-inflation rises in household bills.
The average gas bill has jumped 91 per cent since 2003 to £630.
New York-based Goldman Sachs has kick-started the seasonal pay-ments because it is the first to announce how much has been set aside for bonuses this year.
Some employees will receive bonuses which will dwarf their nor-mal pay when they are paid out in the first two weeks of January.
The biggest players, such as senior executives, star traders and deal-makers, can expect to receive £10million or more each, while many more junior staff will be on £1million or more.
Goldman Sachs finance director David Viniar said: 'This was a remarkable year for Goldman Sachs by any standard.'
Last year, 3,000 senior City workers took home at least £1million each in record bonuses.
Experts predict 4,200 high-fliers across the City will benefit from bonuses of more than £1million as part of the biggest pay bonanza ever seen in London.
Bonuses in other firms are forecast to be between ten and 30 percent higher than last year. Total bonuses in London will be around £8.6billion, according to the Centre for Eco-nomics and Business Research.
Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns all report their own results in the next few days, and most other investment banks follow in January.
More than half of bonus money from the City is believed to be spent on new homes or second homes.
City workers' spending power has helped property prices in London rise to an average of £260,000.
With more than 300,000 people working in the City, an increase in bonuses will fuel fears that prices in the South East will continue to surge next year.
While some will put their money into investments or property, others will go on a spending spree, buy-ing luxury cars, yachts, race horses, jewellery and designer clothes.
City bonus payouts have been heavily criticised in the past. At the Labour Party conference, Harriet Harman described them as 'excessive and ridiculous'.
The Constitutional Affairs Min-ister said the increasing gap between rich and poor creates a 'sick society'.
Brendan Barber, general secre-tary of the Trades Union Con-gress, said: 'No one. should begrudge generous rewards for hard work and risk-taking. But the obscene size of these City bonuses has lost touch with reality.'
06Dec06 - Irish Independent - Ex-AG [&
Irish rep. on the Bilderberg Steering Group - ed.] Sutherland to be one of
God's top bankers
by John Cooney

IRISH businessman and former Attorney General, Peter Sutherland, has been named as one of the Vatican's investment gurus.
Mr Sutherland (60) has been appointed as an expert adviser on Vatican finances by Pope Benedict XVI.
His appointment to the board responsible for the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See, known as APSA, was announced in Rome yesterday. APSA is the office within the Roman Curia that deals with properties owned by the Vatican, which provide revenue for the Pope and the Vatican civil service to carry out their administration of the universal Catholic Church.
It is not to be confused with the Institute for the Works of Religion, more commonly known as the Vatican Bank, which was embroiled in scandals associated in 1982 with the collapse of the Banco Ambrosiano, whose chairman Roberto Calvi was found hanging from Blackfriars Bridge in London.
Along with the Prefecture for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See, APSA was given the task of improving the running of the Vatican's cash-flow and investments, as well as pension funds - that were traditionally enshrouded in secrecy.
APSA examines the budgets of the various branches of the Roman Curia, and advises on the Holy See's investments in stocks and real estate. Mr Sutherland will also examine the Holy See's management of its personnel, as the biggest expense for the Curia is its wage bill to staff, including the operation of its embassies around the world.
Mr Sutherland is chairman of BP Amoco in London, is a former chairman and managing director of Goldman Sachs and a former EU Commissioner. Born in Dublin in April 1946, he was educated at the Jesuits' Gonzaga College, University College Dublin, and the King's Inns.
Known by his friends as 'Suds', Mr Sutherland was called to the Bar in 1968, but failed to win a Dail seat as a Fine Gael candidate in the 1969 general election.
In the early 1980s, Mr Sutherland served as Attorney General in the two Fine Gael/Labour coalitions led by Dr Garret FitzGerald, before being appointed to Brussels in 1983 as Ireland's member of the European Commission.
Last night, Archbishop of Dublin Dr Diarmuid Martin welcomed Mr Sutherland's appointment and described him as "eminently qualified" to assist the Pope.
THREE prominent Irish people have been named among the most influential Roman Catholics in Britain. Ireland's former European Union Commissioner Peter Sutherland is the highest placed in the list.
The chairman of BP and Goldman Sachs International was named as the fourth most influential Catholic in Britain and the North of Ireland by the Catholic weekly The Tablet.
New book in German :
'Bilderberger, the timetable of the new world order'
by Andreas's von Rétyi
320 pp. numerous illustrations, 2006
Our world history is not the result of coincidences, but rather precise planning. More than half a century ago a powerful group was formed to take the fate of this planet into hand and steer the world in the direction of a secret brand of internationalism. Numerous crucial events in politics and economics can be traced back to subtle manipulation by Bilderberg. Their goal: total global control.
The high priests of globalization first met in 1954 under strictest secrecy for the first time in the Netherlands hotel de Bilderberg. Since then Bilderberg meets once in the year in the most distinguished hotels of the world. What is discussed there behind locked doors, remains strictly secret, but we have no choice, whatever the Bilderberger decides will shape our future. They rank among the central organs of a world-wide shadow government.
The book explains:-
All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the new world order. Bilderberger David Rockefeller to 23.09.1994 before the US Business Council
In the Daily Mail on 31st October 2006 - page 17 (not on daily mail web site)
by Ephraim Hardcastle
WHICH member of the Government attended the most recent Bilderberg Conference, the secretive - and to some, sinister - annual gathering of business tycoons at Kanata, Ottawa? Lord Stoddart, an independent peer who used to take the Labour whip, asked in the Lords if Britain sent any ministers, in a private or public capacity. Former social worker Lord Bassam, answering for the Government, avoided the question. Which suggests one or more ministers did attend. Talk about 'open' government.

Tony Blair was questioned in the House of Commons yesterday on his involvement with the secretive Bilderberg Group. Liberal Democrat MP, Norman Baker asked Blair to provide a full answer to a previous 12th October question about Bilderberg and whether Mr Blair had had any involvement in Bilderberg Conferences since he became Prime Minister in 1997.
The entry into the House of Commons records is below and can be viewed online:
Prime Minister Bilderberg GroupNorman Baker: To ask the Prime Minister pursuant to the answer of 12 October 2006, Official Report, column 862W, on the Bilderberg Group, if he will provide the information requested in respect of himself since 1997. [95308]
The Prime Minister: I have not attended any such meetings.
Is Blair telling the truth? Certainly he has lied about previous attendances to Bilderberg meetings, most notably the 1993 conference which he attended before he'd even become leader of his own party. One year after his attendance Blair became leader of the Labour party and a rapid rise to power, culminating in his election as Prime Minister in 1997, ensued that baffled many political analysts.
In 1998 an MP asked Blair the same question to which he gave the same answer, that he had never attended a Bilderberg meeting. However, the evidence clearly shows he was there. A number of mainstream media reports, plus the official Bilderberg attendee list, confirm that Blair attended Bilderberg in Athens in 1993. Furthermore, Parliamentary records prove he was there with long term member, and supposed opposition party stalwart Ken Clarke.
Tony Gosling at Bilderberg.org has tirelessly worked to expose the influence that the Bilderberg group has on world events. Here he analyses the incredible rise to power that other Western leaders have experienced after attending Bilderberg meetings.
Norman Baker, the MP who questioned Blair, has recently made waves in British politics by launching into a private, year-long investigation into the death of Dr David Kelly, the scientist who found himself under siege after apparently accusing the government of 'sexing up' the case for war to a BBC journalist.
Kelly, the UK's leading weapons inspector, was found dead under a tree on Harrowdown Hill in Oxfordshire after telling associates and friends that he feared that's what would happen to him. An inquiry set up under Lord Hutton duly reported that Dr Kelly had committed suicide. In a brave attempt to reveal the truth, Norman Baker disputes this conclusion.
Baker has also recently suggested that he sees inconsistencies in the official story of the 9/11 attacks.
This year's Bilderberg Conference was held in Ottawa Canada and was covered in depth by Alex Jones and the Infowars team who went through hell and high water to protest and raise awareness of the event.
Bilderberg has a proven history of acting in a kingmaker capacity, yet they are unelected and unaccountable to anyone. Their directives are driven towards undermining national sovereignty and establishing a world order that benefits their elite interests. Both Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were "groomed" by Bilderberg before becoming President and Prime Minister and the mainstream media reported that Bilderberg selected John Edwards as John Kerry's running mate in 2004.
Further Parliamentary records indicate that the shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer attended the Bilderberg conference this year. This is interesting given that Gordon Brown, a man on the verge of becoming the next Prime Minister, attended the Bilderberg Conference when he was shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1991.
A House of Lords minute entry dated 11th October also indicates that an answer is awaited on whether any ministers attended this year's Bilderberg Conference:
The Lord Stoddart of Swindon-To ask Her Majesty's Government whether any Ministers attended the Bilderberg Conference in Ottawa between 8th and 11th June; if so, whether they attended in a Ministerial or private capacity; whether they made contributions to debates; and, if so, on which subjects. [CO] (HL7569)
It seems that some members of The Houses want to know exactly who is attending Bilderberg meetings and in what capacity.

Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Austria's opposition Social Democrats, led by Alfred Gusenbauer, unexpectedly won today's national election, beating Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel's People's Party after promising to reduce unemployment, to cut taxes for middle-income families and spend more on education.
The Social Democrats took 35.7 percent of the vote, or 68 seats in the lower house of Parliament, to 34.2 percent, or 66 seats, for the People's Party, according to provisional results.
Opinion polls during the campaign had shown the People's Party consistently ahead by between 2 and 5 percentage points.
``The Social Democrats mobilized their own supporters en masse in the past week by saying Schuessel should cancel the purchase of Eurofighter jets and increase pension payments instead,'' said Klaus Poier, a political scientist at the University of Graz. ``Many People's Party voters stayed at home as they were expecting their party to win anyway.''
Gusenbauer, 46, will now have the chance to form a coalition that will end Schuessel's 6 1/2 years in power. His most straightforward possibility is a ``grand coalition'' with the People's Party, along the lines of that formed in Germany last year by Angela Merkel.
The Social Democrat, who needs at least 92 seats for a majority in the 183-seat lower house, doesn't have enough seats to form a coalition with the Greens alone and has excluded alliances with the anti-immigrant Freedom Party or Joerg Haider's Alliance for Austria's Future.
The Freedom Party took 11.2 percent of the vote or 21 seats, the Greens 10.5 percent or 20 seats and the Alliance, Schuessel's current coalition partner, 4.2 percent or 8 seats.
The distribution of seats may change if the Alliance falls below 4 percent, the threshold for getting into Parliament, after all 420,000 postal votes are counted by Oct. 10, though analysts say the Social Democrats' lead is too big for the People's Party to overcome. Should the Alliance fail to win any seats, that might open the way for a coalition between Gusenbauer and the Greens.
``The result is a very deep disappointment,'' Schuessel, 61, who's been in power since February 2000, said on national television in Vienna tonight. ``We'll have to thoroughly analyze what went wrong here.''
The result was the closest in an Austrian election since 1962. Turnout, at 74.2 percent, was the lowest since World War II and 10.1 percentage points lower than at the last election four years ago.
The government's planned purchase of 18 Eurofighters, made by European Aeronautic, Defence and Space Co., will cost 1.96 billion euros ($2.48 billion), according to the Defense Ministry. Gusenbauer has said he wants to cancel the purchase of the planes and spend more on pensions and education instead. Delivery of the planes is expected to start next year.
``People in Austria think that the country is rich and wealthy but not everything is fairly distributed,'' Gusenbauer told national television, ``That's why people feel there needs to be a correction when it comes to pension payments, health'' and education policy, he said.
Gusenbauer has pledged to halt sales of stakes in partly state-owned companies such as Telekom Austria AG and Oesterreichische Post AG, a policy Schuessel's Finance Minister Karl-Heinz Grasser had promised to continue.
``The Social Democrats won't be able to carry out everything they said they'd do,'' Wolfgang Matejka, chief investment officer of Vienna-based Meinl Bank, said in a telephone interview. ``The party will have to compromise.''
Gusenbauer has pledged greater investment to create jobs, arguing that unemployment, at 4.9 percent in July, in the country of 8.2 million people is still higher than when Schuessel came into office. He says tax changes under the People's Party have only benefited large companies, and smaller businesses need help to invest.
Gusenbauer's party recovered to win today after falling behind in the polls in March, following news of losses linked to hedge-fund investments at Bawag PSK Bank, owned by labor unions close to the Social Democrats.
The People's Party ran a campaign saying the Bawag scandal showed the Social Democrats couldn't run a business and wouldn't be able to run the government.
Last week, though, Profil magazine reported a link between Schuessel and Bawag, saying that the chancellor had been on a trip to Bulgaria with then-Bawag Chief Executive Officer Helmut Elsner in March 2003. The trip was sponsored by investor Martin Schlaff. The men attended the opening of the new headquarters of Bulgarian mobile phone company MobilTel. Schlaff's purchase of MobilTel was partly financed by Bawag.
Analysts including Werner Beutelmeyer of the Linz-based Market polling institute have said the magazine article hit support for Schuessel.
What would you think if all of the North-American sports team owners, for instance, met secretly every year where no media were allowed in or to interview any of the participants, where there were armed guards at all the doors and when they exited that meeting, the individuals hid their faces so as not to get photographed and refused to talk to reporters? What would the reaction be? Sports fans - and most everyone else - would be furious! We would wonder what kind of deals were they hatching, what were they plotting and planning that they didn't want the rest of us to know?
Sounds pretty weird, eh? But did you know that recently at a 5-star hotel in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, more than 100 of the world's most wealthy and powerful individuals - called the Bilderbergers or the Illuminati or Synarchists - (and confirmed as including Hilary Clinton, George H.W. Bush, David Rockefeller, Gov. George Pataki of New York, the President of the Federal Reserve Bank, Henry Kissinger and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, whose family owns Royal Dutch Shell Oil) got together under just such circumstances to discuss the future of not baseball but the world as the rich and powerful want it to look like. At the end of their meeting they covered their faces, ashamed, as they sneaked out to their limousines to the airport.
On Wednesday, June 14th on the nightly "Coast to Coast" radio program from Los Angeles, host George Noory interviewed three men who have been long aware of the Bilderbergers but up until the past few years have been laughed at and dismissed as conspiracy theorists and worse - Jim Mars of Texas, author of "Rule by Secrecy"; Daniel Esheron, author of "The True History of the Bilderberger Club" and Alex Jones author of "Martial Law 911".
They discussed the One World Order the Bilderbergers have been planning for all the rest of us, to include the Canamex Highway which would run straight from Mexico, through the U.S.A. up to Canada with no border inspections; transponders for taxation purposes to be placed in all new automobiles (which has already come up for discussion in the Texas legislature); the U.S.'s future of undefended borders which started only recently when the government backed down on a plan to spend $60 million to update all U.S. ports; a future where the Bilderbergers will appoint all world leaders and return to feudalism and a plan to reduce the world population by 80-90 percent, to name just a few.
How, you may ask, can a group of only about 300 individuals get control over the rest of us? One way is by placing microchips in individuals (recently done by the President of a large American bank to "allow him access to secret vaults and store rooms in his bank"), the International Monetary Fund's Wolfowitz who will control the World Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank, all European banks, the Secretary General of NATO and therefore NATO itself; it includes the Tri-Lateral Commission's plan, already in process, of NAFTA, the Euro Group and to include a group of Asian countries.
Their plans, over the years, have already been witnessed - World War II, the Korean War, starvation of nations, Viet Nam, and the fact that virtually nothing is being done for the Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans.

Bilderberg expects interest rates to rise and many Americans to lose their homes in the months ahead. Meanwhile, they hope they can pressure President Bush to refrain from an all-out invasion of Iran while maintaining oil prices at their current record-high levels of about $70 a barrel.
Timothy Geithner, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, predicted rising interest rates and difficulties for families that have obtained adjustable rate mortgages, or variable interest rates. Many are likely to lose their homes as rising home mortgage rates add hundreds of dollars to their monthly payments, he said. While most listened solemnly and some expressed concern, one was heard to say, stupid Americans deserve their fate.
Many Americans, especially young families, have been buying expensive homes at low but variable interest rates. Others have been paying just the interest owed on their homes and not the principal. They are the most vulnerable, Geithner said. Some have paid little or nothing down. Some institutions lend buyers the down payment.
When home construction peaks and prices start downward, many will find they owe more on their home than it is worth in the marketplace. They will also find their mortgageeven interest-only paymentsare unaffordable.
The banks will get the homes back and sell them again.
Again, the term stupid Americans was heard among clucks of sympathy or silent indifference. According to one source, no concern was expressed by Allan Hubbard, assistant to President Bush for economic policy.
European Bilderbergers said they would have no part in an invasion of Iran, something Bush says is an option on the table. Although NATO is helping by adding 9,000 troops in Afghanistan, expect no help if Iran is invaded, they said. We will not help you fight a war for Israel, one said.
Several noted that Israel has had nuclear weapons since at least 1963 and has never signed on to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, so no international inspections are conducted. It was the late George Ball, a charter member of Bilderberg who was No. 2 man in the State Department under presidents John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, who first revealed that Israel has nuclear weapons.
Is it not reasonable that Iran would need such a deterrence against Israel? an unidentified Bilderberger was heard saying. If you invade Iran, Israel is your only ally and good luck. One suggested that surgical strikesbut no land invasionmay be tolerated but others said they would be ineffective.
Listeners to this dialogue included Eival Gildy of Israel, head of coordination and strategy in the office of the prime minister, and Ziad Abu Amr, member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, president of the Palestinian Council on Foreign Relations and professor of political science at Birzeit University. Ahmad Chalabi, former deputy prime minister of Iraq and one of the key sources of disinformation about Iraqs weapons of mass destruction, was also present.
William Luti, special assistant to Bush for defense policy, and Richard Perle, former high Defense Department official and still a close adviser to Bush, responded that the United States is simply trying to stop the spread of nuclear weapons and make the world safe. But, said one European: How safe do you think the world will be if you invade Iran and Iran responds by firing missiles on your ally, Israel? Israel will nuke Iran in response and you will have your proliferation.
Robert Zoellick, deputy secretary of state, said it would be necessary to keep the invasion option to pressure Iran into agreeing to abandon its nuclear weapons program.
Youre wrong, the European answered. Iran simply refuses to be bullied by the United States. Save us a lot of trouble and forget about invading Iran. The Americans remained silent.
Bilderbergs mood was described as uneasy when it came to the issue of oil, a discussion followed closely by such oil-rich participants as banker David Rockefeller, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and Franco Bernabe, vice chairman of Rothschild Europe.
The Latin American problem mixed the issue of oil with Bilderbergs scheme to expand NAFTA throughout the Western Hemisphere and have it evolve into an American Union patterned after the European Union. Hugo Chavez, head of Venezuela, is not only raising taxes on the extraction
of oil from his country, he is trying to establish a trade coalition with neighboring nations that would block the expansion of NAFTA by creating the Free Trade Area of the Americas.
Bilderbergs consensus seemed to be to not force higher oil prices at the moment, but be content with the immense profits enjoyed now.
Chavezs barrier to NAFTA expansion leaves them moody because establishing an American Union is a critical step toward Bilderbergs goal of establishing the United Nations as a world government.

Senior Turkish newspaper columnist Fehmi Koru, after participating in 2006 Ottawa Bilderberg meeting, has published six articles (titled: 'When I was in Bilderberg 1-6') on the meeting. Koru's articles show that being in Ottawa deeply changed his ideas and theories on Bilderberg.
It was expected that Fehmi Koru, who was the harshest critic of Bilderberg Organization and especially the journalists participating in but not writing on Bilderberg meetings, would reveal at least some secrets of Bilderberg. But Fehmi Koru, in the six articles he published during last week in Turkish conservative newspaper Yeni Þafak, has explained almost nothing about Bilderberg and has deeply disappointed his readers.
Koru preferred to go deeply into the debate about whether or not to accept an invitation from Bilderberg, rather than any 'inside story' of the conference. Koru strictly observed the 'Bilderberg's off-the-record rules so he did not name anyone who uttered the few quotations he published from the meeting.
Disappointed readers of Koru were shocked to read his last article in which he expressed his hope to be invited to next year's Bilderberg meeting that will take place in Istanbul (Ýstanbul), Turkey.

"The Bilderberg Group, that old network of power worshippers that conspiracy theorists believe runs the world, are always keen to attract the up-and-coming element to their gigs. They have just finished their gathering in Ottawa. The British contingent included Shadow Chancellor George Osborne and the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, ED Balls.
They evidently like to hedge their bets.Poor old Lord Black used to be invited, but Conrad wasn`t on the list, even though the meeting took place in his homeland of Canada."

Filmmaker Alex Jones, researcher Jim Marrs and journalist Daniel Estulin (email) participated in a roundtable discussion about the secretive Bilderberg Group, which recently met in Canada. They want to bring about globalism-- a one-world government and economy-- but they are trying to push it through using secrecy and deceit, Marrs commented.
Estulin traced the history of the group which was founded in 1954 and got its name from the Bilderberg Hotel in the Netherlands, where they had their first meeting. Their real name though is the Synarchist Movement, he said, and the group of around 125 wields so much control because many of its members are the heads of nations or powerful organizations such as the Central Banks & NATO.
The Bilderberg group was mainly founded with Nazi money, said Jones, who pointed out that until recently the US press never reported on them-- but now the secretive yearly meeting is starting to get mainstream news coverage. He warned of their agenda to create a North American Union (merging the U.S. with Canada and Mexico), in which illegal immigrants will be made legal in America. Marrs encouraged people to "think globally but act locally,"-- voting for candidates who aren't backed by big money, for instance. He also noted that some states have made provisions to withdraw from the union if martial law is declared.
Estulin, who has studied the minutes of some of the Bilderbergers' meetings, cited how the group was associated with the war in Kosovo and seeks at times to destabilize regions. Interestingly, Jones said that there is currently a split in the group, with some members disagreeing over the agenda of the Iraq war and Iran invasion. Marrs concurred about the schism, and added that it appears they are "running scared" as though they were on a deadline, possibly due to upcoming geophysical changes.

Wednesday, June 14, 2006
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Green Party leaders today issued their wrap-up assessment of the annual Bilderberg conference, to which no Green elected officials, candidates, or party leaders were invited.
The Bilderberg meeting, held this past weekend in a suburb near Ottawa, Canada, hosted 130 world leaders, heads of powerful corporations, and media representatives to discuss topics like free trade agreements, increases in gas prices, and foreign policy such as the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Despite the presence of leading media representatives and the discussion of issues of national and world importance, the meeting is secret and was unreported in the U.S. media.
"The Democratic and Republican parties are well-represented at Bilderberg, but Greens are never invited. Alas, we wouldn't fit it in. The Bilderberg conferences stand for everything the Green Party opposes -- concentration of the world's wealth and power among a small group of elite corporate and governmental leaders, whose agenda have become largely realized," said Julia Willebrand, Green candidate for Comptroller of New York, who noted reports that Bill Clinton was persuaded to support NAFTA as a result of his attendance at at least one Bilderberg meeting in the early 1990s.
Greens noted that one of this year's attendees is Ahmed Chalabi. Mr. Chalabi, who is wanted in Jordan for bank fraud, helped provide false intelligence about the presence of WMDs in Iraq, one of several fraudulent reasons for the U.S. invasion in 2003. Mr. Chalabi, a favorite of the White House and of U.S. warhawks and neo-cons, later became Interim Oil Minister of Iraq at the same time that the U.S. was opening up Iraq resources to foreign (i.e., U.S. corporate) ownership; he also now serves as Deputy Prime Minister despite his widespread unpopularity in Iraq. Greens called Mr. Chalabi's sinister presence typical of the Bilderberg meetings.
Other attendees at the meeting in Ottawa include former U.S. defense policy advisor and Iraq War architect Richard Perle, former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, New York governor and possible presidential hopeful GeorgePataki, Royal Dutch Shell chair Jorma Ollila, former World Bank president James Wolfenson, banker David Rockefeller, Paul Gigot of The Wall Street Journal, and the corporate heads of Coca-Cola.
"Any meeting in which U.S. government leaders are gathering with other nation's leaders, corporate honchos, political thinkers, and other powerful world leaders needs to be reported in the media," said Bob Levis, Green candidate for Congress in Wisconsin (5th District) <http://www.boblevis.org>. "If the major media refuse to report on Bilderberg because they're part of the same cabal, then something truly ominous is taking place. This isn't conspiracy theory. It's conspiracy."

OTTAWA, CANADAAs Bilderberg gathers at the posh Brook Street Resort, there was concern that Latin America will use oil as a weapon to block expansion of NAFTA throughout the Western Hemisphere and whether Bush could be talked out of an all-out invasion of Iran.
Bilderberg is concerned that leftist governments in Latin America, led by Venezuelas Hugo Chavez, will use manipulation of oil supplies and prices to form an economic union that would include Brazil, Cuba, Peru and Mexico.
Such a union, by refusing to join NAFTA, would wreck Bilderbergs long-standing goal of expanding NAFTA throughout the Western Hemisphere and evolving it into an American Union patterned after the European Union. The dollar would become the common currency of the American Union.
Reaction to Chavezs earlier announcement that he would exact new taxes on companies that extract oil from his country was angry This directly affects Bilderberg, which has its own oil bloc, including Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and the Rothschild companies of Britain and Europe. Companies affected include Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp, Conoco-Phillips, Total, BP PLC and Norways Statoil ASA. Chavez also irritated the striped-britches boys by offering oil at low prices to impoverished locations in the United States and Britain. His domestic oil is subsidizedVenezuelans pay 12 cents a gallon.
There is a feeling expressed among Bilderberg luminaries that Chavez is having fun with them. They are not known for humor.
But Bilderberg says its policies are turning the Chavez threat around. Chavez hosted the OPEC meeting in Caracas but his proposal for a cut in oil production to boost prices was rejected. OPEC has maintained its official output ceiling at 28 million barrels a day since July 2005.
It has been reported that Mexicos Felipe Calderon of the America-friendly National Action Party now leads in the polls over the populist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in the July 2 presidential election. Although he is from the same party as President Vicente Fox, Calderon has cast himself as a rival who advocates improving Mexicos economy so there would be no incentive to illegally enter the United States.
In Peru, Ollanta Humala, who is friendly with Chavez, lost to former president Alan Garcia. While Bilderberg has celebrated Americas little wars, there has been opposition by the European wing to the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan from the outset. With NATO taking on a larger role in Afghanistan, the controversy has calmed a bit.
But European Bilderbergers fear a United States attack on Iran, which would have a tremendous global impact.
The meeting is set to begin on Friday, June 9. AFP will be there covering the event over the course of the weekend. The Bilderberg group takes it name from the hotel in Holland where the group met in 1954, during the earliest period of its inception. Bilderbergers meet regularly, presumably on a once-a-year basis, at various locations around the world, always in extreme secrecy, often at resorts controlled by either the Rockefeller or Rothschild families. The Rothschild family is the leading European force within the Bilderberg group, sharing its power with the American-based Rockefeller empire.
Bilderberg maintains an extremely low profile and seldom, if ever, publishes reports or studies for the public, at least, under its own official aegis. Participants denied the groups very existence for decades until it was forced into the open by the glare of media publicity, generated largely by the now defunct Spotlight newspaper. It follows so-called Chatham House rules, whereby attendees are forbidden to speak on the record about topics of discussion during the gathering.

QUEEN'S PARK BUREAU CHIEF
The provincial government will announce tomorrow that Ontario is embracing more nuclear power plants, sources told the Toronto Star.
Premier Dalton McGuinty has privately spoken of his government's plans to confidants for days, insiders say. In an off-the-record speech on Saturday night in Ottawa to the secretive Bilderberg group, McGuinty discussed the pros and cons of more nuclear plants.
While he did not divulge the government's plans to that audience of 160 business and political leaders, the premier privately admitted the public will officially learn of the plans tomorrow when his government announces its long-awaited response to the Ontario Power Authority's report on the province's energy supply mix.
Last December, the OPA, an arm's length agency, recommended in its 1,100-page report that Ontario spend up to $40 billion over the next 20 years to produce 12,400 megawatts of electricity from new or refurbished nuclear plants.
The authority said nuclear power would have to be 50 per cent of the province's energy mix through 2025.
"The government will soon announce our response to the Ontario Power Authority report," an aide to the premier said last night. "The premier repeated on Saturday what he has always said publicly, that we cannot take new nuclear off the table as we prepare Ontario's long-term energy plan."
Despite claims from his office that his speech was no different from one he delivered in Niagara Falls a year ago, insiders told the Star he was unequivocal in private conversations about his support for the controversial electricity source.
Ontario is already home to many nuclear facilities. There are six nuclear units at Tiverton's Bruce plant, plus two more being refurbished; four at Darlington in Bowmanville; six at Pickering, plus two that have been mothballed, and one decommissioned Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. reactor at Deep River.
To meet the OPA recommendations, Ontario would need about a dozen more reactors, which would take years to build.
Ever since the OPA report was made public Dec. 9, opponents of nuclear power have been attacking McGuinty for leaning toward that option. The Sierra Club has called the nuclear option "insanity" and Greenpeace called it a leap backward at a time when alternative sources should be sought.
McGuinty's staff deliberately omitted any mention of his speech Saturday to the Bilderberg session held at the Brookstreet Hotel in the Ottawa suburb of Kanata from his public itinerary.
The group, named for the Dutch hotel the organization first met at in 1954, holds its sessions behind closed doors amid tight security. In the past, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and former prime ministers Paul Martin and Jean Chrétien have addressed the organization.
Because participants in Bilderberg sessions are sworn to secrecy under threat of ex-communication from the group, politicians tend to lower their guard and speak candidly.
Insiders say McGuinty gave a "marvellous" Ontario-boosting speech interspersed with revelations about the province's need to move forward with more nuclear plants.
"He gave a stump speech on how great Ontario is and then (privately later) he said we're going to announce this week we're building new nukes," a source said.
Among those reportedly attending the Ottawa session were Ahmad Chalabi, former deputy prime minister of Iraq and a key proponent of the U.S.-led invasion of that country; Globe and Mail publisher Phillip Crawley; Coca-Cola chairman George A. David; Power Corp. CEO Paul Desmarais; Richard Holbrooke and Vernon Jordan, long-time top advisers to former U.S. president Bill Clinton; Henry Kissinger, former U.S. secretary of state; former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna; Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands; New York Governor George Pataki; Iraq war architect Richard Perle; Heather Reisman, chair and CEO of Indigo Books and Music; Torstar president and CEO J. Robert S. Prichard and tycoon David Rockefeller, among many others.
It was the kind of power-broker audience the premier, who sat with Pataki, Reisman and Queen Beatrix, would want to reach when delivering a message about investing in Ontario and massive investment will be required to pay for $40 billion in nuclear plants.
His address came one day after Energy Minister Dwight Duncan confirmed that the Liberal government was being forced to break its 2003 election promise to close all of Ontario's coal-fired generating plants by 2007. That promise was later amended to 2009.
On Friday, Duncan said that even the 2009 date could not be achieved. As for the nuclear option, Jack Gibbons, executive director of the Ontario Clean Air Alliance, denounced the OPA's call for more nuclear power as "1950s-style solution to meet our electricity needs in the 21st century." NDP Leader Howard Hampton, author of a book on Ontario's electricity history, has railed against nuclear power because of environmental concerns and cost overruns.
But Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory has said Ontario needs a diverse energy supply to keep its manufacturing-reliant economy stable.

OTTAWA - Four days after they arrived quietly at a Kanata, Ont., hotel, the world's rich and powerful left just as mysteriously, in limos and SUVs with blacked-out windows.
The Bilderberg Group, a secretive organization of politicians and business leaders from around the world, gave no public statements. With private security guards and metal barriers keeping outsiders on the street, the Bilderbergers met in secret and then whisked themselves away in ones and twos, mostly to the airport.
What they talked about at the Brookstreet Hotel is still a secret. The group meets annually, and is usually rumoured to discuss international politics and business, from Middle East crises to oil prices.
They emerged singly Sunday Bilderberg president Etienne Davignon of Belgium, American David Rockefeller, Italian economist Mario Monti, European competition commissioner Neelie Kroes from the Netherlands, and, watchers thought, Iraqi politician Ahmed Chalabi.
Protesters on the sidewalk have their own version of the agenda: world domination, a merger of Canada with the United States and Mexico, hiding the cure for cancer, suppression of cars that get 200 miles per gallon of fuel, an invasion of Iran, and slavery for the common people of all countries.
About a dozen protesters stood outside Sunday, slightly fewer than on Saturday. Two police officers watched from across the street while others were inside the hotel.
They carried signs protesting the "NWO" (new world order) and denouncing the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks as "an inside job."
"When you've got this many high rollers in one place, then there's a story," said Geoff Matthews, editor and publisher of a small newspaper called the Kingston Eye Opener.
"In my opinion, what they started to plan about 10 years ago is the unification of North America without the consent of the people. It's now in fast-forward."
The meetings always draw intensely curious outsiders who believe the Bilderbergers need to be exposed. One of these is Daniel Estulin, a Canadian who moved to Spain about 15 years ago because, he says, the Central Intelligence Agency tried to kill him. He feels safer in Spain.
''I'm much further out of the reach of the secret service both Canadian and American.''
''I write the stories everyone else is afraid to write,'' he said.
He and others staked out positions on the sidewalk where they could get a clear view of the hotel's front door.
For hours, they watched through binoculars and telephoto lenses, waiting as men and women got into limos. Cameras clicked, and the Bilderberg-watchers scrolled through digital images afterwards, trying to identify which member of the group they had just recorded.
Alex Jones, a documentary filmmaker from Texas, showed up with two of his crew.
''Man, this is just evil,'' he muttered as he paced up and down, watching more limos drive past. He was detained on his arrival in Canada, but released after other media asked questions about him.
''It's a group of very powerful individuals whose objective is to create one world government, based on an economic model from the Middle Ages,'' he said. This would be ''a post-industrial model where you have slaves and slave owners.''

"In my opinion, what they started to plan about ten years ago is the unification of North America without the consent of the people.
He claimed to have Bilderberg insiders feeding him information.
Protester J. P. Arial of Ottawa was there for the fourth straight day.
"They're ruining our planet. They're suppressing free energy, controlling the food industry. They're forcing farmers to switch to genetically modified seeds,'' he said.
''They want to control everyone. No freedom, no democracy.''
But most residents took no notice of the black cars running in and out between the computer companies, past the lineup at Tim Hortons on March Road, and off to the airport.

This year's Bilderberg meeting brought a big surprise to Turkish people: One of the harshest critics of Biderberg organization, famous Turkish journalist Fehmi Koru was invited to participate Bilderberg 2006 - Ottawa meeting. He accepted the invitation and is now in Ottawa. Today's Turkish papers announced his participation.
Fehmi Koru, who writes daily for the conservative newspaper Yeni Þafak (www.yenisafak.com), is famous with his harsh criticism of Bilderberg and the Turkish participants of the mysterious organization's meetings. He wrote tens of articles about the evil influence of Bilderberg.
According to Koru's theory Bilderberg participants ware chosen very carefully to be assisted by secret world power centers through their careers and when they reach the key positions in a country's political scene, all begin to implant the Bilderberg decisions, plans and programs.
Koru's participation to this years meeting arouse much criticism and reaction.
Together with Fehmi Koru this year's Turkish participants of Biderberg are those: Mustafa Koç (Turkey's foremost industrialist), Güler Sabancý (Turkey's foremost businesswoman), Egemen Baðýþ (MP, Consultant of primeminister Tayip Erdoðan) and Soli Özel (international relations expert, journalist).

Ottawa (Agence France Press) - Leading representatives of business and politics got together last weekend for the annual Bilderberg meeting, that always takes place as far from the public eye as possible.
In the capital Ottawa met, for example, the Queen of the Netherlands Beatrix, the former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger, US Banker David Rockefeller and the Former Boss of the World Bank James Wolffensohn, as the daily newspaper "Ottawa Citizen" reported.
Conspiracy theorists say the conference is a conspiracy meeting, reporting its about nothing less than the power of the world. An observer, who had arrived from Spain, to report especially just the conference, said "the participants want to create a world government. They lead the world's elite and want to control all natural ressources of the world".
The Ottawa Citizen reported that this years conference themes like the oil market, security problems with Iran, terrorism and imigration to have been on this year's secret agenda. Former US-security advisor Richard Perle said on his arrival, that the Bilderberg Group will not talk about 'public order' during the 3-day-meeting. Drivers who pick up the illustrious guests from the airport, held a sign in their hands with a simple "B" on it.
This years participants also included the deputy chief of Iraqi government Ahmed Tschalabi, the CEO's of Coca-Cola, Crédit Suisse, Royal Dutch Shell and the Royal Bank of Canada, members of the government from Greece and Spain, and also some media moguls.
The Bilderberg-Conference met for the first time in 1954 in the "Hotel De Bilderberg" in Osterbeek, The Netherlands. It always ends without a finishing statement, there were no conclusions in writting, and not a word of the discussions are allowed out.

The scene was bleak. The tall hotel gleamed under the dark rain in the sky. Private security roamed the grounds with about ten stationed outside on posts and another two at the door. One Ottawa police cruiser sat in the parking lot with two police inside, two more stood by the door and, another two walked the grounds. A ambulance also sat on the premises next to ten golf carts.
About a dozen independent reporters stood outside in the rain on the curb. To step on the grass resulted in security coming to talk to you even if you just stood there and didn't advance. The only outsider who was able to get close was one lone Canada goose.
The hotel is around the corner from Lockheed-Martin while behind the hotel is the Marshes golf course. The area is fairly deserted and although, technically available by bus, it still happens to be far out. The hotel is far enough to be away from many watching eyes.
One reporter said that he might have seen Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. Who was spotted earlier at the airport according to the Ottawa Citizen. The Citizen mentions her, David Rockefeller, Frank McKenna, Jorma Ollila, Egil Myklebust, Richard Perle, James Wolfenson though as I reported Conrad Black has also been spotted. They also report that "attendees will also include New York Governor George Pataki, deputy prime minister of Iraq Ahmad Chalabi, the heads of Coca-Cola, Credit Suisse, the Royal Bank of Canada, a number of media moguls, and cabinet ministers from Spain and Greece."
At the hotel there were only black sedans and, Brookstreet hotel vans which came through the barricades. One sedan had someone in the back seat who ducked down and only came up once he had cleared our sight. Other sedans came and went however, one of which had diplomatic plates and others had members who were rushed inside while their luggage was unpacked from the trunks. Some members came outside to smoke, only one of which I was able to get a good look at. He was Mediterranean, but I was unable to recognize him directly. None of important names came outside during the period though. Pictures of the hotel and security are on the way from my photographer.

By EARL MCRAE, OTTAWA SUN - 9th June 2006
http://www.ottawasun.com/News/OttawaAndRegion/2006/06/09/1621811-sun.html
We all need a little insanity in our lives and here's mine: The Bilderberg Boogie.
Raindrops are falling on my head as I stand behind the security barricade well back of the Brookstreet Hotel where dark limos with tinted windows pull up to the front entrance sporadically throughout the day, dispatching figures who dart quickly inside through the phalanx of grim-faced guys dressed like undertakers.
Who, I ask myself, are all these undertakers, and uniformed cops dotting the landscape around the hotel, securing? The conspiracy theorists say it's the Bilderberg Group, the so-called world secret government of politicians, potentates, industrialists, militarists, and oil barons who set the real life and death agendas for us all, and have arrived for a weekend of new agenda-setting, concealed, as always, from the plebian public.
If it is the Bilderberg Group, with its paranoia for secrecy, then I'm thinking these geniuses have been struck monumentally stupid. The Internet and newspapers have had stories for weeks that the Bilderbergers will be meeting this weekend at the Brookstreet Hotel. Knowing this, which they had to, you'd think the Bilderbergers, allergic to publicity, would have cancelled the Brookstreet Hotel for a resort on a remote island somewhere.
That's if it is the Bilderberg Group. With the saturation security, maybe it's Oprah or Pamela Anderson or whoever the hell yesterday's fleeting superstar was in pop music.
Or maybe it's the "French pharmaceutical group" and the "Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs charity tournament" people. When I did the Bilderberg scope-out at the hotel a week ago, manager Patrice Basille told me those were the only two groups booked for this weekend, and it was impossible for anyone to make a reservation -- all rooms were booked.
Either Basille is part of the Bilderberg grand conspiracy of silence, or the "French pharmaceutical group" and "Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs charity tournament" are in need of massive security, the reason for which is beyond me.
The only way, I decide, to find out if it's Bilderberg or BSberg is to get past the security into the hotel. So, I walk two blocks down the street, cut into a parking lot of a hi-tech company, and take a circuitous route back to the rear of the hotel, hoping it'll be bereft of security.
First, though, my eyes scan the golf course adjoining the hotel, where the guests have privileges. I figure if I see Osama bin Laden napping in a sand trap, I'm Bilderberg bound. Bin Laden, when checking in, would ask for a sand trap, not a room.
I don't spot bin Laden, but, unfortunately, do spot one of the undertakers at a barricade I'd have to get through to get in. Back of the barricade is the hotel's wrought-iron fence, its locked gates extra-secured with thick, wrap-around, bike-lock wires.
If the Bilderbergers and Brookstreet can practise subterfuge, so can I. "I'm staying at the hotel," I tell him, "I need to get in."
"Do you have your security pass?"
"Security pass? I'm just an innocent guest. Pass for what?"
"All room guests were given passes by the hotel. Not even the police get by me without a pass."
"I guess they forgot to give me a pass -- why, what's going on here anyway?"
"A conference of some kind. That's all we were told. I have to stand here for 12 hours."
"Are you with the hotel?"
"No. Iron Horse Security." He shows me the photo ID card around his neck: Eric Thivierge.
"Dressed like that? You look like you're going to a funeral."
"The client wanted us dressed up this way. All in black. Why, I don't know.
"Normally, we wear company uniforms with our logo. I didn't have a black jacket. I had to go out and buy one."
"All this for just a conference? What do you do if somebody tries to get by?
"Shoot them?"
"No, I don't have a gun. It's illegal. I'll call for help." He holds up his cellphone. "See that other security guy down there? Maybe he can get somebody from the hotel to bring you your pass."
I stroll along to the other Iron Horse Security guy. Andre's his name. Black pants, black shoes, black suit jacket, white shirt, dark tie. I play blissfully inquisitive. "All I know," he says, "is that it's a think-tank of some kind with big shots from around the world."
"Have you seen any of the big shots?"
"I wouldn't recognize them even if I did. I'm told there'll be a couple of monarchs, though."
Andre says he had to buy his own shirt, tie, and pants. Cost him about $100.
"I'm hoping somebody will reimburse me."
Bill the Bilderbergers, Andre. Reimbursement is the least they can do for having you Iron Horse guys wandering the hotel grounds looking like a convention of gloomy undertakers in search of a funeral. But, of course, you'd first have to recognize these secretive publicity shunners.

Cabal who sit in the
catbird seat
I'm afraid that you don't understand that the Bildeberg meetings include owners of the media outlets that are sworn not to reveal any of the discussions. The old Spotlight newspaper, now driven to bankruptcy by these Zionist media owners, used to have inroads by using the help of waiters, busboys and others attending the Bilderberg meetings to obtain the agenda and even report on what was discussed.
I doubt seriously, that the New York Times, Washington Post, the Sultsbergers or the Grahams would have the slightest desire to betray the Rothschild, Warburgs and Kissingers, Rockefeller cabal who sit in the catbird seat at these meetings of heads of Europe's aristocracy, members of their governments and state departments in mufti who plan and synchronize with the Royal Institute on International Affairs and its Councils on Foreighn Relations to do their bidding, especially within the highest levels of our U.S. government, in our congress and in Great Britain, Australian, Canadian and the European Union of governments.
The United States is no longer a democratic represntative republic, but rather it is controlled by foreign interests, stemming from the Enlightenment, Weishaupt's and Mazzini's Illuminati and Free Masonry where man is considered his own God and whose future lies in the Godless, U.N. run world government without borders, without sovereignty; the U.N.'s Charter replacing the Constitution and where there will be a world based on Hilliary's International Socialism with an unelected elite class dictating the rules and the judgements over mankind. It is Luciferian and it is visably happening in the silent invasion from Mexico and the undeclared non-war wars that are bringing down our economy and our once proud society.
Our people have been dumbed down by a rotton education system instituted by the likes of the socialist John Dewey. Our money systems is based on fiat paper without solid value. Our people are not taught American History, rather world history; where pride in nationhood is considered not politically correct; civics is also not taught to high school students and most can't write a decent sentence or are aware of the diffrence between the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.

The limo drivers had them, so did the luggage tags -- signs with a single B -- and they were the ticket to get into the Bilderberg meeting at the Brookstreet, write Andrew Mayeda and Glen McGregor.

Published: Friday, June 09, 2006
Greeted at the airport by limousine drivers holding single-letter "B" signs, global luminaries such as Henry Kissinger, David Rockefeller and Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands began quietly slipping into Ottawa yesterday for the annual gathering of the ultra-secretive Bilderberg Group.
Over the next three days at the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata, they and other prominent political and business leaders from North America and Europe are expected to discuss issues such as the security threat posed by Iran and the direction of oil markets.
The group's discreet approach was evident as attendees arrived yesterday at the Ottawa Airport.
Outside the airport, a phalanx of limousines lined up to ferry guests to the Brookstreet, where security guards with ear pieces kept watch over the barricaded entrance to the hotel parking lot.
Limos were also dispatched to the nearby Shell Aerocentre to retrieve participants arriving on private aircraft. Some attendees had the single-letter "B" on their luggage tags.
Approached by a Citizen reporter upon his arrival, former U.S. defence policy adviser Richard Perle shot down criticism about the secrecy of the group's meetings. "It's a private organization," he said. He denied the charge, advanced by Bilderberg critics, that the organization crafts public policy behind closed doors. "It discusses public policy," he stressed.
Mr. Perle also dismissed suggestions that the group's heavy representation from the oil industry gives it influence over energy prices. "If it did, I'd be trading on oil futures," he said.
A former assistant secretary of defence to president Ronald Reagan, Mr. Perle is still considered an influential adviser in U.S. conservative circles. He advised President George W. Bush and is said to be a close friend of Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
In 2003, he publicly chastised the Canadian government for refusing to send troops to Iraq and warned that "lame-duck" prime minister Jean Chretien would be embarrassed once weapons of mass destruction were found.
Also seen arriving yesterday were Jorma Ollila, chairman of Royal Dutch Shell, Egil Myklebust, chairman of Scandinavian Airlines, World Bank president James Wolfenson, and Frank McKenna, former New Brunswick premier and ex-Canadian ambassador to the U.S.
According to an unsigned press release sent by fax yesterday, presumably by Bilderberg organizers, attendees will also include New York Governor George Pataki, deputy prime minister of Iraq Ahmad Chalabi, the heads of Coca-Cola, Credit Suisse, the Royal Bank of Canada, a number of media moguls, and cabinet ministers from Spain and Greece.
The release confirmed this year's meeting will deal with energy issues, Iran, the Middle East, terrorism, immigration, Russia, European-American relations and Asia.
"The meeting is private to encourage frank and open discussion," said the release. "There will be no press conference."
Security was relatively light at the airport, with only a few uniformed police on hand.
But at the Brookstreet, the parking lot in front of the hotel was completely emptied and entrances to the lot were barricaded. A tow truck removed any vehicles that did not comply.
Private security guards in black blazers guarded various points around the hotel perimeter, including the golf course behind the Brookstreet. A number of Ottawa police officers also provided security.
Guests who stayed at the hotel on Wednesday night were asked to check out by 8:30 a.m. yesterday, several hours earlier than usual. The hotel is closed through Sunday.
The sidewalk in front of the hotel has become an improvised campground for conspiracy theorists and dedicated Bilderberg watchers, few more colourful than James P. Tucker Jr., a 71-year-old writer who says he has covered every Bilderberg conference for the last 30 years.
Mr. Tucker, who recently published a book called the Bilderberg Diary, said he spent several days this week casing out the hotel, plying Brookstreet bartenders for information over glasses of tomato juice.
"For years they denied their very existence," said Mr. Tucker, dressed in a black pinstriped suit and straw hat. "Well, they certainly influence the world."
Daniel Estulin, who flew from Spain to cover this week's conference, is such a regular on the circuit that he is on a first-name basis with Bilderberg security officials.
"Their main objective is creating a world government ruled by an elite group of people whose main objective is to control all the natural resources of the planet," said Mr. Estulin, who brought a small camera to snap photos of the Bilderbergers as they arrived in dark luxury sedans with tinted windows. Some of the sedans had sheets of paper bearing the trademark "B" on the dashboard.
But the Bilderbergers also attracted curious onlookers who only recently learned about the event through the media.
"There are all sorts of gaps in what politicians say and do. This is just another example of the circumventing of the democratic process," said Cindy Mogensen, who took a break from work yesterday to check out the conference.
Although the discovery of the actual place and venue of Bilderbergs annual meeting happened only two weeks ago some Canadian papers have already spoken about this carefully hidden event. 'Bilderberg Fever' is sweeping Ottawa and the talking point amongst friends sometimes in hushed, worried, tones.
This is already a small victory because for many years there is absolutely no publication before the meeting. The last time where this occurred was in Sweden, for the meeting arranged in Stenungsund in the year 2001. Swedish are fierce and proud peoples, they dont like a secret, some say occult, power to meet on their soil without their knowledge. Without their democratic assent.
They hardly reacted and obliged their press to speak and the main Swedish Bilderberg representative Mr. Wallenberg was forced to give an interview before the conference. Jim Tucker, veteran of the Bilderberg hunt was submerged with interviews that year. Because Swedish people are respecting themselves, they were respected by their Bilderberg Masters for a
